His first day

About 2 hours after Case was born, we got to go up to visit him.  We were still in total shock about all that happened! 

This is our boy.  He was 2 lb 10 oz and 14 7/8" long.  Although really early, he was big for his gestational age.  At just 2 hours old, we were already being told how well he was doing in the NICU.

 

We listened to everything they were saying but didn't have a clue what was really going on.  We were just happy that he was alive and we were getting to meet him.

Daddy read him a book that Hadley had brought.  His first story was "Bubbles, Bubbles" with Sesame Street characters.  

He was on 30% oxygen his first day.  That night, they bumped him down to 21% oxygen (which is what we breathe) and told us he would be off the ventilator soon.  The next day, the ventilator was gone!  He was already surpassing our preemie expectations.
